Ministries To Resolve Challenges Facing Wassa District Hospital

Mr. Akwasi Oppong-Fosu, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development has pledged to collaborate with the Health Ministry to address the challenges facing the Wassa Akropong District Hospital. �As a district hospital, it needed to be put in the position that it would be able to provide quality health care for the people in the district and beyond in terms of infrastructure. This is why I have come here to familiarize myself with the successes and challenges of the hospital to determine the way forward,� he added. Mr Oppong-Fosu, who is the Member of Parliament for Amenfi East, assured the management of the Hospital at the weekend in Wassa Akropong when he visited the facility to acquaint himself with situation. Madam Mary Magdalene Arthur, District Director of the hospital, briefing the Minister said the hospital needed a generator, district health administration block, a maternity block, and a cold room with fridges to store vaccines. In addition she said the hospital needed a bungalow for a second doctor, accommodation for its staff and vehicle for effective administration. Mr. Stephen Badu Acheampong, District Chief Executive, Wassa Akropong, who joined the Minister on his visit, promised on behalf of his district assembly to provide the hospital with a maternity block to complement the efforts of the local government and the health ministry. He congratulated the staff of the hospital for their dedication and commitment to quality health care delivery in spite of their infrastructural limitations.
