The President of the Ghana Registered Nurses Association has expressed worry over the recent strike action by medical doctors in the country. Mr. Kwaku Asante Krobeah, in an interview with Joy FM, raised concerns over the stalemate between the Ghana Medical Association and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission in remitting the doctors� 2012 market premium. According to him, the strike action invariably affects the activities of nurses in the nation. He explained that although, nurses will not withdraw their services to patients as medical doctors have already begun as a result of the nationwide strike, they however depend on the doctors and so, cannot work without them. Mr. Asante therefore called on government and the various labour authorities to amicably sort out their differences with the doctors in order to get them back into the hospitals to provide essential services to patients. He was optimistic �if all the parties agree that they would put their efforts together to ensure that understanding prevails, I�m sure based on that agreement will be reached and hopefully the doctors will get back to work. We�re all concerned. We�re all worried because representing the nurses, I know that without the doctors; we cannot do the work. Since, we cannot do the work of doctors and doctors cannot also do the work of the nurses, we�re all up to task.� He also believed the doctors will soon resume work as government together with the labour unions in the country hold talks to resolve the deadlock.
