The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma Central, Theophilus Tetteh Chai, has stated that he would have given Dr. Bawumia a few strokes of the cane if he was a teacher because he has exposed his ignorance with respect to the work of a polling station agent. He questioned the host of �Ekosii sen� on Asempa Fm, �do you know the reason why, look the reasons why we send polling agents to polling stations is not only to go and observe -it is not all about standing and opening your eyes wide to observe proceedings - They are not spectators. We teach them the rules and regulations of elections. We teach them things if they fail to do would go against them. So you, a presidential running mate, if you stand before the court and say that if there were mistakes on the pink sheet, the polling station agents are not liable, then that is very funny. According to the representative of the people of Ablekuma Central, this tells him that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) did not engage the services of qualified and competent people to represent them at the polling centers despite the advice of the Electoral commission (EC) to do so. Hon. Tetteh Chai�s statement comes after Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the second petitioner to the Supreme Court in the on-going case challenges in court the validity of the election 2012 results. The renowned Economist took to the stand on last Wednesday to deliver close to a six hour long testimony during which he was asked if the pink sheets on which he claims irregularities were not endorsed by the NPP polling stations? He answered by stating that majority of the pink sheets were signed by the polling agents representing the NPP but the fact that they endorsed the pink sheets does not mean they formally approved of the irregularities that took place at the polling stations. This, the Ablekuma Central MP said exposes the flaws in the presentation made by Dr. Bawumia. He further stated that when the respondents in the case begin to invite their witnesses, it would be evident that the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) does not understand the work of polling station agents.
