Express Your Grievances In Writing Sherry Ayittey Tells Nurses

The Minister for Health, Miss Sherry Ayittey is asking registered nurses in the country to express their grievances in writing. In a meeting with the nurses the Minister for Health indicated that they would meet with the officials of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) over threats by the Ghana Registered Nurses Association to embark on strike. The nurses are threatening to strike if they are not upgraded onto the Single Spine Salary Structure. In an interview with Citi News the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ministry of Health, Tony Goodman stated that the nurses indicated that they were unhappy over the placement of graduate pharmacists ahead of nurses and midwives. He indicated that the Minister is waiting for them to write officially telling her their grievances. The Minister told the registered nurses to put their displeasure into writing or their proposal on the grading structure which they want to see on paper so that it would be brought to her he said. He added that the meeting with the FWSC would enable the Ministry of Health to deal with the concerns of the nurses appropriately.
