"Ghana Needs a Credible President So Lets Help The Court Proceedings..."

A member of the communication team of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Charles Owusu has applauded the Supreme Court for sitting on the case of the 2012 election petition, saying that the lawyer of the first respondent is deliberately delaying court proceedings with his cross examination. According to him it is a disgrace to the President and the Electoral Commission that after the 2012 General Elections, the legitimacy of President Mahama is in doubt as this has given the President sleepless nights resulting to his focus to direct the affairs of the country wavering. Speaking on Okay FM, Charles Owusu said that it is a disgrace that over 11,000 pink sheets have been pulled out of the 2012 election results against the President; stressing that this case is bringing disgrace to the President and Dr. Afari Gyan and that whenever there is an opportunity to ascend to the highest seat of the land, it will be attained in a lawful manner. He again said that Ghana needs peace and that the spirit of the country is down because of the court case, pleading that the lawyers should stop the delay tactics and help expedite the court proceedings to bring the matter to rest. Ghana needs a credible President and so lets help the court proceeding to either clear President Mahama of the charges or install the right person in his place, he insisted. However, he said that this court case will eventually help the 2016 general election to be credible irrespective of who wins the case before the Supreme Court. He said that President Mahama is confused and does not know which direction to take the country because of the challenge surrounding his legitimacy as President, saying that this is what happens to a country where electoral processes are in doubt.
