Gov't Is Being DishonestTell Ghanaians The Truth

Abu Ramadan, National Youth Organizer of the People's National Convention (PNC) has admonished government not to be high-handed in its approach to resolving the strike action embarked on by members of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) so as to avoid any serious repercussions. According to him, if care is not taken, there will be no doctor in any government hospital; they will all end in the private hospitals. Abu Ramadan was speaking to the hullabaloo surrounding the doctors strike action, how government is dealing with it and the latest court action against them (GMA)by the National Labour Commission (NLC). Contributing to panel discussions on Friday during Kokrokoo, Abu Ramadan said: government is driving the doctors away from practising in government hospitals and very soon they will end up in the private ones. He also added that government is being dishonest with the doctors because even though they (Government) are claiming there is no money the doctors are seeing a different picture Government is not being honest with the people of Ghana and admit that there is no money to pay the doctors and so even when they go on strike for even one year there will be no money. He must tell us the truthhonesty on the part of government will help put the issue to rest because this time, the doctors will not be deceived, he said. Meanwhile, he has pleaded with the doctors to pay deaf ears to the insults and propaganda from government communicators and rather listen to the pleas of Ghanaians as well as well-meaning people of the country.
