Association Of Ghanaian Medical Doctors Appeals To Striking Doctors

The Association of Ghanaian Medical Doctors, AGMED, has asked the leadership of the Ghana Medical Association to go back to the negotiating table to settle differences with government amicably. In an interview with Radio Ghana, the Secretary of AGMED, Dr Alex Brown, said the leaders of the GMA are not putting the plight of Ghanaians above all considerations. A posture, he described, as a clear violation of the Hippocratic Oath. Dr Brown noted that though his Association has a little over 100 members dotted around the country, they are still working around the clock to save lives. Meanwhile, the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Ephraim Avea Nsor, says other health professionals in the Wa Regional Hospital are exhibiting dedication to duty in the face of the doctors' strike. He said the Regional Administration will give the needed support to the health professionals to continue to give quality health care. Dr Nsor in an interview with Radio Ghana explained why he led a delegation of all DCEs in the region, some chiefs and other opinion leaders to assess the situation at the Wa Hospital in the wake of the doctors industrial action.
