A staunch member of the political pressure group, the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), has lashed out at the Ghana Police Service for placing a ban on all demonstrations in the country, describing the act as the �most unethical� directive to give under a democratic era. Mr. Hopeson Adorye singled out COP Rose Bio Atinga, Director General/Administration at the Police Headquarters, as an �NDC� apparatchik within the Ghana Police Service, solely responsible for issuing directives which are applicable in Afghanistan. Mr. Adorye was of the opinion that since the Ghana Police Service has shown interest in placing bans on demonstrations, they must be relocated to a country like Afghanistan where incessant strike actions are held. The group was recently forced to call off its April 18 demonstration after the police secured an order to stop them on the grounds that it does not have sufficient personnel to provide security for the demonstrators. As if to further court the ire of the group, the police service issued a press release on Sunday signed by Madam Rose Bio Atinga, indicating that because the Supreme Court is sitting every day to hear the election petition suit, the Police Service is embarking on Operation Stability Standby until the case is properly disposed of.
