NPP Parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko has asked the Police Service to give a better explanation to their ban on demonstrations or �any mass activity� by the public. According to him, just coming out to issue a statement placing a hold on �every activity involving a lot of people�; until the election petition at the Supreme Court is over �does not make sense especially in a democratic dispensation�. The police say due to the on-going election petition at the Supreme Court, they will not be able to give security or protection to any group that will plan on going on a demonstration or other mass activity. ,all demonstrations and festivals should be put on hold. �The police service has about 25,000 men and there is no way they can tell me that all of them are on duty at the Supreme Court. I have been to the Supreme Court and the police personnel on duty there are not even up to 200: and so what are they talking about?� Mr Agyarko sought to find out from Kwami Sefa-Kayi on Peace FM�s Kokrokoo. He is of the view that even if there are only 1000 police personnel, they should still get enough men to take care of other activities in the country. �If care is not taken very soon they will even ask us not to go to church. What is the paranoia? What are they afraid of? They will tell us not to go to church because it is a congregation. Somebody must tell us what exactly is going on because what they are telling us does not make sense. This is completely out of nature and context. Every Ghanaian has a right. We shouldn�t get to the point where people will feel threatened in a democratic dispensation�� he asserted.
