The coordinator of the Ashanti Development Union, Mr. Edmond Oppong-Peprah has challenged the Police in Ashanti Region to beef up their system since it has now emerged that criminals residing in the region no longer feared neither them nor the laws of the land. In an interview on Okay FM's mid morning news, Mr. Edmond Oppong- Peprah the coordinator for the advocacy group stated that for criminals in the area to have the effrontery to carry out most of their gruesome activities during the day times; it informs the residents that the police service have been lenient in dealing with them. He continued that with the way criminals have launched their activities in the region, it goes a long way to breach the right to �freedom of movement� our constitution provides for all. As a result of this, he stated that development in the area has been put on hold. Mr. Edmond Oppong-Peprah ended by positing that some if not all of them would be forced to arm themselves with weapons if the police service can�t assure them of maximum security.
