Paul Afoko Denies Nurturing Presidential Ambition

A stalwart of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Mr Paul Afoko has denied ever expressing interest in becoming his partys flag-bearer for the 2016 general elections. The Upper East Regional representative of the partys National Council told XYZ News that a publication by The Al-Hajj newspaper which said he confirmed his presidential ambitions in an interview was false. The paper said the former ally of former presidential aspirant Alan Kyeremanten had encamped in the Upper East Region preparing the grounds and garnering support for his presidential ambition. Mr Afoko, however, told XYZ News in an interview yesterday that at this point in time every loyal party member is focused on the Supreme Court petition and on what possible verdict will come out of that. When asked if he was considering running for the presidency, Mr Afoko said: No, not at this point in time, no, and added that why should I? Rule it out. I have no such ambition. I think Im unambiguous now. He continued: My energy is on getting my partys petition going and going well anddoing what our presidential candidate has actually saidthat the party should remain calm; we should abide by the rule of law and we should await the verdict of the Supreme Court and we should abide by that verdict. He said: My political ambition actually is to see that our party gets back to power.
