DSP Tehodas Case Adjourned To June 27

The cocaine turned baking soda case involving a former Deputy Head of the Police Commercial Crimes Unit, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mrs. Gifty Mawuenyega Tehoda has again been postponed to June 27. An Accra Human Rights Court presided over by Justice Kofi Essel Mensah on Wednesday adjourned the case because the State Attorney failed to appear in court. According to Justice Kofi Essel Mensah, the ruling was to protect the integrity of the court for the proper conduct of the case when the State Attorney appears in court on the adjourned date. The presiding Judge also asked the legal directorate of the Ghana Police Service to serve the court with all the necessary documents needed to support an affidavit in objection to a contempt application filed by DSP Gifty Tehodas legal team soliciting her job security. Lead counsel for DSP Tehoda, E.A. Vorduago has sued the Police Service for dismissing their client. He described DSP Tehodas dismissal as illegal and an affront to Ghanas judicial system. E. A Vorduago disclosed that Mrs. Tehoda who has been interdicted by the police administration for her involvement in the cocaine-turn-baking soda saga since August 18, 2012 has since been denied her salary. He added that the police administration has made attempts to throw out DSP Tehoda in the official bungalow she is occupying. This, E. A Vorduago said has inflicted more hardships on their client and therefore pleaded with the court to place an injunction on that attempt until the final determination of the case.
