Naadu Mills Distributes Bibles...

Wife of late President, John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills, has donated customized Bibles to all Senior High School (SHS) students of her husbands Alma Mata Achimota School, known as (Akora), at a ceremony in the school. Last Sundays ceremony, follows the national inauguration at Aburi Girls SHS, in the Eastern Region, and its expected that the rest of the five hundred thousand (500,000) Bibles would be distributed in various SHS throughout the country. The kind gesture by the former First Lady, Dr Ernestina Naadu Mills dubbed Ghana First Lady High Schools Bible Project (2009-12), is her passionate appeal to reach out to tomorrows leaders, with powerful word of God as she quoted (Proverbs 22:6) which says direct your children unto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. In a speech the still mourning Mrs. Naadu Mills said, the initiative was conceived in 2009 by her and Prof Mills after he won the 2008 general elections. She said, it was her wish to encourage and inspire Ghanaian students to become Godly, useful and productive citizens, to enable them become better adults, who are well vexed in the Holy Bible. Adding, Encouraging people in Bible-use continue to be my personal passion and service. Using her life as an example, Mrs. Mills who incidentally thought in the school years ago said that, I cannot overstate the value of the Bible in giving meaning and direction to my life and providing the very much needed joy, peace and solace for me even on the cloudy days. The free special Bible distribution is an effort by Mrs. Mills with support from Scripture Union (SU) Ghana and Tyndale Publishers of US, who are providing the total number of Bibles at a local market value of ten million Ghana Cedis (GH10, 000, 00) for free distribution. Mrs. Mills, who spoke passionately to the students with special emphasize on certain portions of the Holy Book, had a special message dedicated to the students at the first page. The Bibles, which was received by the Girls Prefect, Emmanuela Essirifi, described as valuable and promised to put to good use was designed with the red, gold, green colours of Ghanas flag, with her portrait embossed on them. The Head Mistress of Achimota, Mrs Beatrice Tsotso Adom who was full of praise for the former first lady, on behalf of the School presented a gift to Mrs Mills, for remembering them at such a special time. Mrs. Naadu Mills expressed appreciation to all, especially the Scripture Union of Ghana, Tyndale Publishers and all who helped in diverse ways for the success of the initiative. President of Tyndale Publishers disclosed that his outfit was planning a promotional project that would allow customers in Christian bookshops in the US to underwrite the cost of providing and even personalizing copies of the Bible for Ghanaian students. Key among the former First Ladys entourage were, the Mayor of Accra, Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpujie and Greater Accra Regional Minister, Julius Debrah.
