STAR Ghana Sustainability seminar ends

A two day seminar for civil society groups in Ghana, aimed at exploring ways to ensure the sustainability of their programmes in the society, has ended in Accra. The STAR-Ghana organised seminar, which began on Wednesday, was meant to equip participants with the requisite skills to use in their various institutions. The groups discussed ways to enhance their capacity to work effectively with Parliament and other state institutions. The seminar also sought to train participants on how to strategically seek audience with persons in authority and also discussed ways of how to become self-reliant and manage their own affairs without being wholly dependent on donor aids. Madam Agnes Chiravira, Director of A Youth Alive Ghana, in an interview with the GNA, said STAR Ghana is a body of donor organizations, which came together to support civil society groups in the country. It is also their duty, she said, to hold officials accountable and also aid the constituents in areas where these officials have failed. She said the promises of duty officials including Members of Parliament, government officials, district chief executives etc, should be well scrutinized by members of their constituents before the implementation process begins.
