I Feel Sad Sammy Awuku

Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku has in an interview with OKAY FM, expressed melancholy for the contemptuous statement he made on Peace FM which has led to the jailing of Ken Kuranchie, Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper. According to him, had it not been his hypocritical and selective statement, Mr. Ken Kuranchie would have escaped jail last Wednesday. Sammy Awuku alleged on the show that he prayed for Mr. Kuranchie when the nine panel judges recessed to take a final decision on him and Stephen Atubiga, the NDC communicator. When the judges retired to take their final decision, I prayed unto the Lord to save my brother (Ken Kuranchie) that the punishment is not severe even if he is punished. Ken Kuranchie was jailed for 10 days for his criminal contempt publication. Escaped jail but banned from court Sammy Awuku believes the sentence is not meant to bring the reputation of Mr. Kuranchie into disrepute. Every great leader in this country and elsewhere has one way or the other ended up in jail. I was not happy when he (Ken) was jailed but I pray for him to be strong. 10 days is just around the corner and he will be free again. I called his family to show my support he added.
