Ken's Strategy Was Wrong...It Does Not Show A Focused Approach - Kweku Baako

Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has indicated that Editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper and his lawyers shot themselves in the foot by starting with one approach to their case and changing it mid-way through. According to him, had they continued on their path of contesting the issue before the Supreme Court on Tuesday during his contempt hearing, Ken Kuranchie would probably not have been sentenced. Ken Kuranchie who was summoned by Judges of the Supreme Court following contemptuous comments he was alleged to have made in his newspaper, was led by three lawyers, Atta Akyea, Yaw Owusu Addo and Kofi Boakye. His comment allegedly questioned the basis of the Courts invitation of Deputy Communications Director of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, Sammy Awuku, who described the Bench's decision to cite "Daily Guide" newspaper as an example of media houses distorting facts as hypocritical and selective. Speaking on Wednesdays edition of Kokrokoo with host Kwami Sefa-Kayi, Kweku Baako said: I think the strategy was wrong. When Ken began and the lawyer also started speaking, I thought they were going to contest the issue all the way to the end. If that was their intention, then they should have continued to the end and the court would not have been able to take a ruling on them. That case would have been referred to the Attorney General for proper proceedings elsewhere to be done however, starting and mitigating mid-way with an apology, threw the ball back into the court of the (Supreme) court to take a decision on their own. They both didnt help themselves. From what I heard, the lawyer didnt decide on his own that this was going to be the strategy. Ken himself was part and parcel of it. If you feel you have a legitimate case, you go on to contest for the law to decide but how they went about it, does not show a focused approach.
