Boateng And Essien Reminiscing On Their U-20 Days After Black Satellites Magical Exploits

Ghanas Black Satellites exploits at the ongoing 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup is making Ghana stars Derek Boateng and Michael Essien remember their days as youngsters at the same stage. The Black Satellites have sensationally progressed to the semi-final in Turkey despite losing both of their opening group games against France and Spain. Ghana highlighted their superiority at the tournament when they resisted a strong Chilean side to win 4-3 in a nail-biting quarter-final clash in Istanbul on Sunday night. Ghana football stars were glued to their seats as they watched the Satellites cruise to victory over their South American opponents. And these football stars definitely included Michael Essien and Derek Boateng who were the big boys at their time. Both Essien and Boateng were in the Ghana U20 team that reached the final of the 2001 edition in Argentina but crashed to a 3-0 defeat to the host at the Estadio Jos Amalfitani in Buenos Aires. Both players used their twitter accounts to comment on the Black Satellites victory. Come on Ghana!!!!, Essien tweeted. Boateng, who has recently joined English Premier League side Fulham, also saluted Sellas Tettehs boys for their strong performance. Well done by u20!!! Amazing match!, he also tweeted. Boateng was the star of the Ghana U20 team at the time and was tipped for greatness but it is rather Michael Essien who has chalked successes at the international arena.
