I Am Not Vying For The Golden Boot Award - Ebenezer Assifuah

After producing an extra-time goal magic to send Ghana through to the semi-final of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, hero on the night against Chile, Ebenezer Assifuah has said he is not contending for the goal king race in the ongoing Uder-20 World Cup. The youngster stated that he will bury any scoring chance that will come his way to see Ghana qualify for the final as well as wining the ultimate. Though he believes every strikers aim is to emerge as a Goal King in any tournament, he is not in a haste to battle for the golden boot but rather will collectively work with his team mates to lift the trophy for Ghana. As a striker your duty is to score goals and now my aim is to help the team (satellite) win the trophy. If incase I emerge as the top scorer that will be fine but if not, I will thank God. I did not come into this tournament to fight for the Goal King position or the Man of the Match. Our aim as a team is to win the trophy. We are praying to God to be in the final and to win the cup, he repeated. Ebenezer Assifuah scored the last-gasp winner for theBlack Satellites in a dramatic 4-3 extra-time victory over Chile on Sunday in Istanbul. With four goals to his credit, Ebenezer Assifuah will lead the Satellites attack to face France in the Semi-final on Wednesday in Bursa after France had trashed Ghana 3-1 in the opening Group A match.
