Porto Turn Down Liverpool Offer For Christian Atsu

Portuguese giants Porto have turned down Liverpools offer of 4 million Euros to sign their skillful Ghanaian midfielder Christian Atsu. The English side are unlikely to return with another offer as negotiations with Porto broke down after the offer was rejected. Reports in Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claims that Brendan Rodgers has been left frustrated in pursuit of the player. The Reds have held an interest in the 16-cap Ghanaian international for several months and were hoping to bring the player to Anfield this summer. However, the Liverpool boss will now have to look elsewhere, with the report claiming the Merseyside giants are unwilling to increase their offer for the former Rio Ave loanee. Atsu will now have to face the prospect playing in the second team of the giants if he fails to attract a suitable offer to sign him from Porto. He was banished from the first team last week after he refused to extend his expiring contract insisting he wants to leave for England. The decision to place him in the second team could affect his chances of playing in the Ghana national team.
