Zambia Coach Throws In The Towel, Admits Ghana Favourites To Win In Kumasi

Zambia coach Herve Renard has finally eaten large and copious amounts of humble pie by admitting that Ghana are the as favorites to qualify from Group D of the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers. But the Frenchman has warned the Black Stars that his charges will fight up to the last second in their decisive clash in Kumasi in September. The Chipolopolo coach has previously bragged that they will arrive in the Garden City to walk over the four-time African champions even though they have been utterly unimpressive in the World Cup qualifiers. Ghana just need a draw to top Group D while the Zambians must win the match in Kumasi to advance, leaving the tie delicately poised. The Black Stars has been the most impressive in the group haven beaten group opponents Sudan and Lesotho both at home and abroad while the Chipolopolo struggled against both sides failing to win any match away from home. Despite a heavily-contested FIFA decision to give Zambia three free boardroom points after protesting against Sudans win over them, Ghana still top the group and with reality dawning on him, the Frenchman has admitted that they are likely to be beaten at the fortress of Kumasi. Ghana is the big favourite of our group. They were favorites at the start of the campaign and they are favourites of the match in September, he said. But we will go to Kumasi to take our chance to reach the play-off. Our determination will be very high. We will fight to the last second of the match. We have lots of confidence to achieve something very big even when we know it wont be very easy, he added. Renard stated that his team will fight to clinch the play-off spot ahead of Ghana.
