Ade Coker Advises Football Administrators: Stop Selling Players OutsideIt Destroys Our League

Former soccer administrator now turned politician, Joseph Kobina Nii Ade Coker is worried with the latest trend of selling Ghanas playmakers in the Glo Premier League while the season is on break as well as the current Under-20 players. According to him, instead of selling players who are now been known for their brilliant performance in the local league, football administrators should cultivate the habit of retaining such players to make the league attractive. He believes most football fanatics patronage matches just to see their favourite players play. The former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President has however urged the GFA and various football administrators to make wages juicy so as players will not be forced to accept any offer from overseas just to warm the bench. If the players eventually leave the shores of Ghana our football will go downThese boys should stay here and ones you have invested so much in them, they should not leave the shores of Ghanathey should stay and prepare for the 2014 World Cup. For the next four years we have to groom these players for tournaments ahead of us. but here we are, we have started selling these players already and when the time comes for another tournament we will be searching for a new set of players to form a new squad and all these boys will not be around. This is my advice to them, he said. Speaking to PEACE FM on PEACE POWER SPORTS, Ade Coker further said our league must now jump from the era that we pay the boys Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHC100) or Thousand Cedis (GHC 1000). We must make sure that the sort of sponsorship around must be beyond the shores of the country so the players will be well resourced. They must be able to pay the boys at least a sum that will make them not to leave here and go and warm up benches outside.
