NDC Communicator: Enough Of AMA Boss Renaming Of Hockey Pitch Ruckus

Lawyer Kakra Asamoah, a Communications Team Member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), wants a cessation of calls for the removal of the Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Mr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, in the wake of the renaming of the National Hockey pitch brouhaha. According to him, the Presidents decision to revert the hockey arena to Theodosia Okoh National Hockey Stadium after the AMA boss attempted re-naming of the edifice in memory of the late President John Evans Atta Mills, should be respected by all. The AMA boss, during the first anniversary of the late Professor John Evan Atta Mills, made public the controversial renaming of the national edifice. But President John Mahama, clearly unhappy with the assemblys decision, summoned the AMA boss to the Flagstaff House and further directed that the status quo should remain. The President also apologized to the hockey icon for the trauma she went through describing the incident as a sad mistake. Let me express our regret to our grandmother Mrs. Theodosia Okoh for any emotional trauma [she went through] as a result of the renaming of the national hockey pitch... The pitch shall continue to be called the Theodosia Okoh National Hockey Stadium. Prof. (Mills) himself in life would not have accepted it," the President stated. In the wake of the faux pas, numerous calls have been made to sack the AMA boss or he should voluntarily resign from his post following the blunder he committed. But contributing to a panel discussion on Asempa FM, Lawyer Kakra Essumah surmised that the issue has been over-flogged wondering why anyone will still want to discuss it. He also slammed calls for the AMA boss to personally render an apology to Madam Okoh saying the president has already done so. After the President of the Republic of Ghana (John Mahama) openly apologized to Mrs. Theodosia Okoh, I think we should cease from discussing this issueI also think calls for Oko Vanderpuije to apologize are also needless This is because the President did not only render an apology, before his apology; the decision by the AMA boss has been properly and formerly reversed. I will be surprised to hear anyone discussing this issue again, he opined.
