Confusion Over Mahatma Transfer

Accra Hearts of Oaks arrow head, Mahatma Otoo, is heading back to Ghana after the Phobians cancelled a proposed transfer of the player to Belgian side, Club Brugges. Otoo, top scorer in last seasons Glo Premier League, had completed medicals last Thursday as part of the final rituals toward his transfer until Club Brugge insisted that he undertook trials before joining them. Hearts officials then cancelled the deal altogether. According to the manager of the player, Ashford Tettey-Oku, as per an initial agreement, Otoo was to be handed a contract immediately after successfully completing his medicals. He said Club Brugges suddenly insisted on a trial for the player, an aspect he said was alien to the terms agreed before the players departure for the medicals. But despite this hitch, Mr Tettey Oku said they were not perturbed because they were spoilt for choice, with some other clubs in Europe still chasing the player for his signature. Otoo remains one of the most sought after players in the domestic league after he staged an inspiring performance last season to score 20 goals in the local league. He was later voted the best player in the local league by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG). Mr Tettey Oku hinted that the player would soon join one of the other European teams seeking his services although he decided to keep the teams name under wraps until the deal was finalised.
