Ayews, Kevin Still Out Of Black Stars, As Appiah Invites New Players

The Ayew Brothers - Andre Dede and Jordan - are still missing from the Black Stars as Coach Kwasi Appiah named his squad for next Wednesdays friendly against Turkey in Istanbul. Prominent names also absent from the 21-man list were AC Milans Kevin-Prince Boateng and Chelseas Michael Essien, who are both thought to have ended their respective voluntary hibernation. Instead, Coach Appiah has handed opportunities to new trio, goalkeeper Razak Braimah of Guadalajara in Spain, midfielder Yusif Chibsah of Parma in Italy and Emmanuel Banahene of Sanliurfaspor in Turkey. Also making a return is Norway-based goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey, who until the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa, remained Ghanas number one choice. The Ayew Brothers, whose resignation from the Black Stars following their exclusion from the Nations Cup squad early this year was averted by a national appeal headed by the intervention of President John Mahama and Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will sit out once again when the Stars take on their Turkish counterparts in a warm-up towards next months crucial World Cup qualifier against Zambia. Similarly, Kevin-Prince Boatengs wish of appearing for Ghana again will have to wait for a while. Sources close to the coach said the selection had been done with consideration to players seeking to hold positions at their clubs ahead of the start of the new season, and to offer opportunities to new guys wanting to prove a point in the Black Stars. Indeed, the experienced Sulley Muntari, who recently returned from a slight injury was also left out of the squad for the Turkey friendly. Full squad: Goalkeepers: Fatau Dauda (Orlando Pirates, South Africa), Adam Kwarasey (Stromsgodset, Norway), Razak Braimah (Guadalajara, Spain).
