Ghana Versus Turkey Tonight

Ghanas Black Stars step into top gear as they play an international friendly match against Turkey at the Atatrk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul tonight in preparation for their September 6 showdown with Zambia in Kumasi in an important 2014 World Cup qualifier. Nineteen players, excluding debutant Emmanuel Banahene of Turkish club Sanliurfaspor and Middlesbroughs Albert Adomah, are in Istanbul fine-tuning for the first ever meeting between the two nations. Both Adomah and Banahene have been ruled out of the match due to injury and club commitment respectively. Former number one goalkeeper, Adam Kwarasey, who makes a return after being sidelined with injury, believes the match will be a good preparation ahead of the Zambia clash. It is going to be a difficult game. Turkey is a good team. They have a very strong league and a lot of good players across Europe, Kwarasey told ghanafa.org after the teams first training session in Istanbul last Monday. All the familiar faces in Coach Kwasi Appiahs team are on board except Italy-based AC Milan midfielder, Sulley Ali Muntari. Among the new faces in camp are Yusif Rahman Chibsah of Italian side, Parma, and Spain-based goalkeeper Razak Braimah who could have an opportunity to make their international debut tonight. Of the two, however, Chibsah looks good to make a surprise start for the Stars and could get into the good books of the coach for future call ups with an impressive performance.
