Hearts, Kotoko Clash September 22

Premier League fixtures for the next season have pitted Champion Club, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, and arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak ,in a top clash in just the second week on Sunday, September 22. The game, to be played in Accra, will follow Kotokos defence opener in Kumasi against Aduana Stars, and Hearts of Oaks trip to Bekwai to face New Edudiase United on September 15. In a mix of both difficult and average opening encounters, the champions will host Edubiase in Kumasi before travelling to Wa and Tema to face All Stars and newcomers Inter Allies, respectively. With their games beginning to attract the kind of patronage they enjoyed in time past, Kotoko and Hearts will usher the league into the mood with their early clash. Last season, they fought two pulsating drawn games, a goalless tie in Kumasi before drawing 1-1 in Accra in the second round. The two ties redefined their rivalry despite the apparent gulf in class largely because of Hearts struggles at the time. But as they have shown over the years, neither form nor quality in personnel can adequately guarantee victory in such matches, and they will carry on from where they left off last season. Newcomers Inter Allies host Ebusua Dwarfs at Tema in their debut Premier League game, but it remains to be seen whether they can take inspiration from fellow Tema citizens, Amidaus Professional, who took the Premier League by storm in their maiden season last year.
