Special Security Arrangement For Media Houses Ahead Of Verdict

The Director-General of Operations for Ghana Police Service, COP John Kudalor says the police administration has made special arrangement for the various media houses ahead of the Supreme Court verdict. He said police personnel have been deployed to the various media house before, during and after the Supreme Court verdict come 29th August, 2013 to ward of any possible mob attacks on the media house. COP Kudalor was speaking Monday evening on Adom FM/Asempa Fm's current affairs program dubbed 'Burning Issues'. He used the occasion to caution trouble makers not to think of trooping to any media houses or they would be dealt with according to law. COP Kudalor however urged the media to demonstrate objectivity in their reportage and also desist from reporting things that have the potential of creating violence. 'It is also important for the media not to allow their platforms to used by selfish individuals to instigate violence - if someone comes on your network and wants to say something that can lead to violence you should stop them otherwise you risk being attacked yourself,' he said. The Director-General of Police Operations also cautioned the general public and hawkers who trade along the court area to stay within 100 meters radius away from the court to prevent having issues with the law. He also stated police personnel have since last Friday been dispatched to various flash points and trouble spots across the country to prevent any possible undesirable incidents. COP Kudalor assured the public that the police is fully prepared to quash any attempts to disturb the peace, but cautioned people who might choose to drink on August 29, 2013 to do so in moderation.
