Ghanas Media Has Silenced Critics With Its Conduct GJA

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has congratulated media practitioners across the country for their professional conduct after the announcement of the election petition. According to the President of the Association, the conduct of the media after the verdict has silenced the critics of the profession. The media prior to the delivery of the verdict were cautioned to be circumspect in their report of the event and also not to allow their platforms to be used by politicians and social commentators to foment trouble. In an interview with Citi News, the GJA President, Affail Monney noted that journalists across the country displayed high level of professionalism and must therefore be commended. According to him, his outfit together with the media strategized and advised ourselves about the need to not play ourselves into the hands of our critics and now all our critics have been proved wrong. So its kudos to all of us, kudos to the National Media Commission and even national security. He stated that the prevailing peace and professionalism which the media displayed should open a new chapter in media practice in Ghana and the need for us to continue to scale up in all dimensions as media professionalsbut this should not overshadow our sense of professionalism and respect for the ethical values which underpin our profession.
