Mrs Rawlings To Call On Prez Mahama?

Communications Director the National Democratic Party, Ernest Owusu Bempah says the partys flagbearer, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings will pay a courtesy call on President John Mahama as part of their plans to bridge the political divide. Mrs. Rawlings, on Tuesday morning, visited the 2012 Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo Addo, to congratulate him for his acceptance of the court verdict last Thursday. During her visit, she was hopeful Nana Addos decision to accept the verdict will chart a new course for Ghanas democracy. Speaking on Radio Gold on Wednesday, Ernest Owusu Bempah indicated that the visit by the party flagbearer was intended to unify the nation and in their quest to strengthen the democratic structures of the nation, the party has sent a letter to the office of the President to extend a hand to him for his role in maintaining peace in the nation. The visits, he explained, are an approach to make sure that at this point in time, we dont need people to be going out there and making a statement that will divide the nation. We dont want people to go out there waging war and talking about things that will destroy this country and destroy the democratic process that we have built for so many years for ourselves. And that is what we are doing as a party that we call a spade a spade and do the right thing to make sure that we unify the country for the future ahead; for the future generation to come.
