Victoria Hamah To Meet US Officials

Ms Victoria Lakshimi Hamah, Deputy Minister of Communications, would visit the United States where she would interact with Department of State officials and Governors on the American Council for Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) programme. The tour scheduled for September 11- September 22, is the maiden invitation of a Ghanaian to participate in the programme. A letter addressed to Ms Hamah and signed by the Head of Cultural Affairs at the US Embassy, in Accra said the ACYPL programme is a professional exchange and the Deputy Communications Minister is expected to share ideas with other invited guests from Kenya, South Africa and Namibia. Ms Hamah participation in the programme would upgrade her with new ideas as a young political leader. The letter said participants of the ACYPL programme are young politicians who are contributing immensely towards the strengthening and promotion of democracy in their countries. Participants of the 2013 ACYPL programme would be exposed to a week- long overview of the Federal Government in Washington DC and internship in local political, advocacy and policy making. Ms Hamah, told Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra on Wednesday that Ghana is making great strides in democratic governance and has being recognised as the beacon of hope in Africa. She said her participation in the ACYPL programme is an indication and recognition of her performance in politics and her future potential of being a good leader. Ms Hamah said the knowledge she would acquire would upgrade her skills in governance.
