Teshie Boos Akufo-Addo With Song

With about three more years to go, for the next presidential election, some indigenes of Teshie in the Greater Accra Region, have already made up their minds on the New Patriotic Party (NPP), should it present for the third time, its twice defeated Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo in 2016. The indigenes through a song sung in the Ga dialect, told the twice defeated NPP presidential candidate, who is resting and pondering over his future in politics, that he would never be voted for as president of Ghana, and questioned why he cannot stop holding the country to ransom with his presidential ambition. The song which is interspersed with Twi dialect is making the rounds and generating some wild interest. It comes at a time, when some NPP members are being misled by their Constituency and National Executives to endorse Nana Addo, ahead of the parties National Delegates Conference in August 2014, spiting others interested in the NPP flagbearership. The song was at this years Homowo Festival celebrations by the Chiefs and people of Teshie in the Ledzokuku Constituency to the admirations of those who attended. It has since gone viral on social media platforms and is fast becoming the favourite mobile phone ring tones, among supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Non- NDC members across the country are also enjoying it. It is, however, unclear whether the NDC leadership in the Greater Accra Region, led by Joseph Ade Coker, sponsored the song, which again The Herald is told is spreading very fast within the Ga communities, especially the coastal areas of Tema, Nungua, Kpong, Chorkor among others. The singers believed to be mainly youth, in the song insisted Nana Addo, the lead petitioner in the recent election petition, is a troublemaker, who does not want Ghanaians to live in peace. The one minute- fifty-three seconds long song had the youth questioning the statesmanship of the failed NPP presidential candidate in the 2012 presidential election. It was sung with a drum and other Ghanaian indigenous instruments, amidst whistling and clapping. It had the NDCs 2012 election slogan introduced by President John Mahama; Ede beeekeke. It said Woke haabo boo Nana Akufo-Addo,olioliodankro, ole sekeniwo ye introducing Dr.Slims hit song Seke, meaning we will not give it to you, do you know how mad we are. The second stanza of the song said meyeobanwotsuishieeeeeeeee, meyeniobaaaaaa, meaning there are people in line in the party before you joined the party, so exercise patience. Then comes the chorus Nanaaaaaahwo ye woanaNamogeboohaaa Ghana adwoee, wo ye woananiohaaa Ghana adwoaaaaaaaaa! Meaning who is Nana Akufo-Addo and he is troubling Ghana like that? Finally came .vote John Mahama Akwasi Amissah Arthur aaaaaaaaah edeybeeekeke one touch. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaho vote John Mahaaama Akwasi Amissah-Arthuraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahedeybeeeeeekeke one touch. The Herald, last week reported how buoyed by false hope, some fanatics of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), got carried away into fantasy, composing a victory song for Nana Akufo-Addo, obviously assured that the nine Supreme Court Justices were going to declare him the validly elected president. The writers, composers, artists and sponsors of the five-minute-twenty five seconds victory song, which mentioned Nana Addos name many times, shockingly placed Justice William Atuguba as a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and John Mahamas legal team were unknown. The song welcomed Nana Addo to the presidency to implement his audacious Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, while the Supreme Court case was still ongoing. The victory song also gave credence to Sammy Awukus claims on the recently leaked audio tape from London that the longest-serving Supreme Court judge, Justice Atuguba, was purposefully targeted out of the nine Supreme Court justices by the NPP to be bastardised. The composers had done a remix of the latest hit song of ace hip-life artist Kwabena Kwabena, called Adult Music. Itwas not clear, whether the party fanatics behind the song got Kwabena Kwabenas permission to use his songs rhythm for this purpose. Kwabena Kwabena, has never hidden his affiliation to the NPP and his personal love for the twice defeated NPP presidential candidate. The song also features Samini also known as Batman, and again it is not clear whether he was also contacted to permit the use of the rhythm. The relics of the song welcome Nana Addo as the winner of the election petition case at the Supreme Court, and touted his free SHS policy. The composers rained invectives on the presiding judge of the court, Justice William Atubuga, denigrating him together with the NDC lead lawyers namely; Tsastu Tsikata, Tony Lithur, as well as James Quarshie-Idun, the lead counsel for the Electoral Commission (EC). The song after belittling the lawyers of the respondents in the case, was full of praise for the petitioners lead counsel Phillip Addison. The song goes on to describe Nana Addo as the only individual who has the capacity to make Ghana, a heaven on earth, by offering free National Health Insurance (NHIS). The music further insinuated that when Nana Addo and his running mate were carrying brief cases made up of pink sheets to advance their case , Mr. Johnson Asiedu-Nketia, the General Secretary of the NDC was carrying whisky and drunk to the court, and belching on it while loose-talking in the dock. The music posited that General Mosquito had been drinking the whisky together with the chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan. The song appears to be one of the many things the NPP did, cock sure that the election petition was going to be declared in its favour. Giant victory billboards were mounted in parts of Accra and a 31-page book was also in circulation titled: Election 2012; Fraud & Plunder claiming a systemic vote stealing for President John Mahama by the EC.
