GFA Set To Seal $2.1m Deal With Supersport

Footy-ghana.com can confirm that the Ghana Football Association is set to seal a deal to hand South African broadcast giants Supersport the television rights of the Premier League. According to our sources, an agreement was reached after Supersport upped their offer from $600,000 to $700,000 a year over three years. Footy-ghana.com understands that a yet-to-be named organisation was instrumental in brokering the deal and indeed that unnamed organisation will also act as the production house employed by Supersport to cover matches in the Ghana Premier league. The GFA will thus receive a total of $2.1 million over a three-year period, which is double what previous television rights holders Optimum Media Prime (OMP) paid to the GFA over the last three years ($1.05 million). Footy-ghana.com understands that the deal may not be done in time for any match this weekend, including the Super clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko in Accra.
