NDC Lacks VisionReason Why They Cant See Essence Of NPPs Letter to Council of State

Director of Operations for Young Patriots, Hopeson Adorye, has slammed the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for criticizing a letter from the NPP chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey to the Council of State in conjunction with the appointment of the next Electoral Commissioner. According to him, Jake Obetsebi-Lampteys letter was only an advice to the Chairman of the Council of State to investigate the background of the next EC Chairman in order to disassociate the person from any political color to make his/her work credible. The letter requested that the Council of State be actively involved in the appointment of the next Chairman of the Commission. Although the President has the right to appoint the Chairman and the Deputies, the NPP has called for broader consultation on who succeeds Dr. Afari Gyan whose tenure ends next year. Speaking on Hot FM, Hopeson Adorye discounted claims by the NDC that the letter was meant to deny President Mahama, the constitutional mandate to appoint an EC boss in consultation with the Council of State. NDC does not have vision to see the essence of Jakes letter to the Council of State because the letter is seeking to avoid future turbulence in elections; in that had it not been Nana Akufo Addo who has the peace of the country at heart, there will have been chaos after the declaration, he pointed out.
