Mumuni Drops In World Ranking

Alem Mumuni, Ghanas sole paracyclist at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, has dropped on the latest international ranking by the Union Cycling International (UCI). Mumuni, second in the C2 category is now ranked 19th after failing to participate in the World UCI Paracycling Cup and the UCI Paracycling Championship in Canada last month. The paracyclist ranked first on the continent was unable to participate in the two competitions, following disagreements with the Ghana Cycling Association (GCA). Information gathered by the GNA Sports indicates that, GCA was unhappy with the cyclists decision to register for the competition on his own without the consent of the association. The GCA subsequently informed the UCI, that the cyclists license had been suspended hence his inability to participate in the two competitions, which could have improved his world ranking. Mumuni, confirmed the developments to the GNA Sports in an interview saying, i received an email from the UCI informing me of the decision that the GCA had suspended my license. It was a surprise me, because i did not receive any letter from the GCA. I was told by the international body and am now waiting for them to serve me a letter. He said though his absence from the two competitions had affected his ranking, he was looking forward to 2014 to revive his ranking on the world stage.
