Therere No Divisions In NPPPeople Are Only Exercising Their Democratic Rights

A leading member of the "Young Patriots" of the New Patriotic Party, Hopeson Adorye says the perceived factions within the NPP are meant to strengthen the partys democracy. According to him, there are no divisions in the NPP and that, the party is solidly united. He said this in an interview with Peacefmonline.com. He explained that there seems to be wide discussions on the topic of whether the NPP is divided among itself or not because several leading members have nursed interest in contesting positions in the party. But, to him, it does not therefore suggest that the members have taken sides against one another. They are rather exercising their democratic mandate within the party, he noted. When it comes to quality of the leadership, we have enough of them. All those who are willing to contest, they are capable but there is always one person who can lead the party...So, once that person emerges, we will all rally behind him. He also was of a strong view that the absence of Nana Akomea from the position of Communications Director of the party will not leave any vacuum nor affect the progress of the NPP. This, he further explained, is because the Acting Communications Director, Perry Okudzeto has for the past years served the party effectively. To him, he (Perry Okudzeto) is a suitable successor for the position.
