Nana Addo Has No Option But To Listen To Pleas To Comeback

Several members of the opposition New Patriotic Party have had different opinions regarding the next leader for the party with some vouching for Nana Addo and others calling on him to bow out from the contest. General Secretary of the party, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie recently threw his weight behind Nana Addo, stressing that even if he is in a "wheel chair", he will be pushed to lead the party to victory, come 2016. On the flipside, Former Minister of Health under Ex-President Kufour, Dr. Richard Anane in an interview with Okay FM strongly held that there should be other contenders for the flagbearership position. None of the NPP members have been able to reveal the actual position of Nana Addo. However, a leading member of a youth wing of the NPP "Young Patriots", Hopeson Adorye on Wednesday whispered to Peacefmonline.com that the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the party's 2012 Presidential candidate will surely contest the Presidential elections for the third time. According to him, Ghanaians should not misconstrue Nana Addo's brief political break as a sign that his political ambition has died out. Making inference from the speeches by the party's flagbearer, Hopeson Adorye affirmed that Nana Addo will lead the party, come 2016. Nana is not saying that he will not come backNana has no option but to listen to the majority of the party supporters who are saying that he should come back. From his speech, you could see that Nana is ever ready to lead the partyNana Akufo Addo definitely will come back and lead this party, he disclosed. To him, a new flagbearer for the party will ruin the party's fortunes, come 2016. Alluding to previous instances where certain candidates from both the opposition and ruling parties were given several opportunities to solidify their political ambitions, Hopeson Adorye therefore expressed support for Nana Addo's candidature. 1996, Kufour came in the first time; he didnt win. So, he got a second time in 2000 and he wonAtta Mills came for the first time in 2000, that time he was not in total control. He was the Vice President, so, he couldnt win; second time, he couldnt win. It was the third time when Nana Akufo Addo was also coming as a first timer, Atta Mills won the elections. And then, the second time, John Mahama took over as a President before contesting. So, I plead with our delegates that with Nana Akufo Addo coming for the third time; we are going to win 2016But if we dare change and bring a new candidate, then we are giving the NDC the opportunity to win for the third time. But for meNana will win in his third attempt... Hopeson Adorye confidently stated.
