Information available to peacefmonline.com has it that Prof Kofi Awoonor�s body will be cremated. This is per the wishes of the renowned novelist who met his untimely death in a terrorist attack that occurred in Westgate Mall in Kenya, Nairobi. His body has been flown home. It was brought via Kenya Airways and was accompanied by his son Afetsi Awoonor who survived gun shots wounds in the attack. Prof. Awoonor died alongside 61 others in the attack. His body was met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport Wednesday afternoon by his wife and kingpins of the NDC, including Hon. E.T Mensah, Koku Anyidoho, NDC Chairman, Dr. Kwabena Adjei, Dan Abodakpi, National Security Coordinator Larry Gbevlo Lartey, Capt. (rtd) Kojo Tsikata, Kofi Adams and many more. Prof Awoonor about two months ago wrote his biography and instructed his family on how his funeral should be organized. Per the poet�s wishes, as contained in his will, his body is not to be seen by strangers. He will also be buried at a site he specifically chose in his will. The cremation will take place on October 3rd and then on 11th October, he will be given a state burial. He will be finally laid to rest in his hometown, Wheta in the Volta Region on the 9th of November.
