Kotoko Target 5 Straight Wins

KUMASI ASANTE Kotoko are aiming to win their first five matches of the new season, says Yahaya Mohammed. The Kotoko midfielder said Kotokos ambition included an away win over arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak. Thankfully, he said, Kotoko had started the season just as planned by winning their first two games including the difficult one against Hearts. Speaking to the media after Kotokos solitary win over Hearts, Yahaya said Kotoko wanted to win their first five games to appease their fans. Prior to the start of the season, he noted, Kotoko were hit by a myriad of problems including the resignation of ex-CEO Dr. K.K. Sarpong. Yahaya disclosed that Kotokos playing body had realized that the fans had gone through a lot of tensed moments recently; and so they wanted to retain the league trophy at all cost to bring back the smiles on the faces of Kotoko fans. Yahaya said the 1-0 win over Hearts was sweet, but he was quick to note that winning the league trophy was not going to come easy. Yahaya, who was instrumental in the Kotoko win against Hearts, said he was half fit during that particular game. According to him, the coach used him as a decoy upfront for his team mates to pounce, and the strategy worked to perfection. Meanwhile, head trainer of Kotoko, Mas-udi Dramani insists good preparations helped his team to beat Hearts of Oak. According to him, Kotoko prepared well and this helped them to inflict the painful 1-0 win over their arch rivals in Accra on Sunday. Coach Dramani said he was not surprised about Kotokos important away win over Hearts because his team prepared well for the contest. Coach Dramani however lamented over the begging chances his charges squandered on the day, saying, We should have scored more. He said his players played according to instructions, observing that both Kotoko and Hearts sold out a splendid display to soccer fans that jammed the stadium. The high level of play during the contest, he indicated, was a sign that Ghana soccer was growing.
