NPP Communicator: Internal Faction Is Killing NPP; We Must Support The Party Rather Than Killing Ourselves For Individuals

Beyond the fact that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) believes something went wrong in the 2012 elections, a member of the communication team of the party, Richard Asante Yeboah has admitted internal factions is a major cause of the party�s defeat in the 2012 elections. The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), at a meeting on Thursday, dropped a proposal to have an early congress to elect a presidential candidate for the 2016 elections. The proposal which emerged after the election petition case became a controversial issue and generated tension within the NPP. The NPP activist in reaction to the issue on Okay Fm said he was hopeful that the heat in the New Patriotic Party will die down and have full support of the members as soon as the party elects leaders for the next four years. Addressing the support base in the NPP, Asante Yeboah who was worried said that �we should start supporting the party rather than killing ourselves for individuals in the party�. ���we must understand that insults, insinuations, castigations, character assassination and running down on people within the party will not build the party. We should move away from concentrating power around certain individuals�it is time to end the factions in the party to make NPP solid for 2016 election because it is killing our party,� he cautioned. He however urged the rank and file of party to remain focus with readiness to learn from past mistakes to improve upon the party�s ability to wrestle power from the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC).
