Naadu Mills Launches SHS Bible Project

Dr Ernestina Naadu Mills, the former First Lady, on Sunday launched her Senior High School (SHS) Students Bible Project at the Sekondi College at Essipong. The former First Lady, assisted by Mr Alfred Ekow Gyan, Deputy Western Regional Minister and Captain Anthony Cudjoe (Rtd), Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive distributed bibles to about 1,500 students of the school during the launch. Dr Mills said the project was being undertaken in collaboration with the Tyndale House Publishers Limited, publishers of Christian literature based in Chicago in the United States and Scripture Union, Ghana. She said Tyndale House Publishers Limited is expected to provide at least 500,000 bibles at an estimated cost of GH�10 million for free distribution to SHS students and the Scripture Union, Ghana, would distribute the Bibles. Dr Mills said the project is to bring the word of God to students who are the future leaders of the country adding that it is her contribution and that of her late husband, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, towards the development of the country. She advised students to read the bible regularly and obey and put the Word of God to practice. Mr Kwame Adu, General Director of the Scripture Union, Ghana, urged students not to regard the bible as a mere piece of literature but to read it to meditate and critically study the scriptures. Mr Joseph Ben Asmah, Headmaster of Sekondi College, asked students to regularly reflect on the bible as they are ambassadors of Christ. GNA
