Doctors at the Ridge hospital are battling to save the sight in the left eye of a 23 year old after a vicious attack by a group of soldiers.
Awutey Clement claims the soldiers, numbering at least 8, attacked him the moment he opened his door in response to their knock, hitting him indiscriminately with sticks, their hands and feet. They only stopped when they realized they were beating the wrong person.
The soldiers also opened a deep gash on his head.
The attack took place on Sunday October 20, 2013 at Kasoa Iron City, in an area popularly called Blackie. The reason for the attack is still not known.
The case has since been reported at the Amanfrom police station.
An eyewitness named some of the alleged attackers as Kyianye, Ameyaw and Kwaku Ernest, whose father is a pastor and was about to perform an outdooring in the area.
The Amanfrom police say investigations are ongoing.
