Michael Essien: Ive No Problem With Jose Mourinho

The Ghanaian has come out to rubbish claims that his relationship with the Portuguese has soured in recent times following his lack of play time at Chelsea. Michael Essien insists all is well between him and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho despite his lack of regular first team action at the Stamford Bridge. Essien, who was on a season-long loan at Real Madrid last term, has made just two appearances in the Capital One Cup for the Blues since he and Mourinho returned to west London. But the Ghana international is adamant warming the bench has not bothered him since it is a situation every footballer is likely to experience in his career. I am not worried to sit on the bench at Chelsea, the 30-year-old told Accra-based Asempa FM. I am an experienced player to cope with this situation. I will continue with my hard work and training and I hope my time will come to start games for Chelsea. When asked whether Mourinho had ever advised him against turning out for his country, Essien replied: Never. I am going on well with Mourinho. There is no problem. This is not true. Mourinho has never asked me not to play for Ghana. Essien is part of the 25-man squad called up by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah to face Egypt in the second leg of the Black Stars' World Cup play-off on November 19.
