Legends And Legacy Ball Here At Last

It has been the most talked about issue in entertainment circles over the last month or so and the time is eventually here for this years MTN Legends and Legacy (LAL) Ball at the Accra International Conference Centre. Tonight, highlife star AB Crentsil will be celebrated for his immense contribution to Ghanaian popular music. The man has been around for over three decades and has a large body of compositions widely known here and abroad. Most followers of highlife music in this country know of AB Crentsil songs such as Akpeteshie, Moses, Mesiafo Nto Nsa, Atea, Aboa Oni Dua, Spitual Ghana, Adam and Eve, Osookoo and Obi Baa Wiase. After considering other musicians worthy of celebrating this year, Imajin Advertising, which organises the LAL Ball, settled on AB Crentsil. The man with about 25 albums to his credit had been rehearsing hard since he was announced at the beginning of this month as the one to be honoured this year. He would have the stage to be his usual entertaining self but other artistes would also be there to perform some of his songs. They are Kwabena Kwabena, Castro, Sherifa Gunu, King Ayisoba, No Tribe and Koo Ntakara of Hit-Maker 2 fame. Tonight will be Koo Ntakaras first major outing since winning the MTN-sponsored talent contest. He is a young man of promise and it would be interesting to see how he does on the night. The other performers have reasonable experience and they are all expected to contribute to make the night a big success. AB Crentsil turns 70 next January and there could not be a better pre-birthday present to him than being celebrated tonight at the 2013 MTN Legends and Legacy Ball.
