The Abura Dunkwa District Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old driver, Abdul Majid Malik at Tsitsi barrier near Nyankomase in the Central Region for dealing in Indian hemp popularly known as �wee�. Malik, who was arrested on November 25, 2013 was on Friday put before a Magistrate Court in Cape Coast. He has been remanded into prison custody to reappear in two weeks time. Briefing Daily Guide over the weekend, the AAK District Police Commander, DSP Bernard Twum-Barimah said the suspect, Malik, a native of Assin Fosu, boarded a sprinter bus with registration number GS4193-13 from Yamoransah to Assin Fosu. DSP Twum-Barimah noted that on reaching Tsitsi barrier, the police officers on duty conducted a search in the car and saw a black polythene bag in it. He disclosed that the police got suspicious and asked the suspect who claimed ownership of it to open it for them to check what was inside. The Police Commander said, when the bag was opened, they found 22 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. They then arrested him and sent him to the police station. DSP Twum-Barimah noted that a sample has been sent to the forensic lab for examination.
