SADA Donates Towards Farmers Day

The Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) has donated five tricycles worth GHc16,500.00.to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to support this year's Farmers Day. Mr Sam Danse, Director of Corporate Affairs of SADA presented the items and said the donation was to increase household income levels and also address food insecurity in the country. He said SADA had supplied over 25,415 improved maize, rice and soya seeds and fertilizers to farmers in five regions including Upper East, Upper West, Northern, Volta and Brong Ahafo this year. He stated that SADA also provided 275 tractors and services to farmers across the five regions for small holder farmers to increased their farm acreage. Mr Danse said the farmers also enjoyed agronomic advisory services from 73 Technical Service providers as part of SADA's Agricultural Support Programme to increase farm yields and income levels of small holder farmers. He said SADA had provided strategic planning guidance to government on the implementation and review of accelerated development strategy for the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone and also Mobilised human, financial and other resources for the implementation of the accelerated development strategies. "SADA Co-ordinates existing and future development and related policies affecting the Northern Savannah Ecological zone with a view to ensuring coherence in policy-making and implementation. Mr Willam Boakye -Acheampng, Regional Director of Food and Agriculture in the Northern Region thanked SADA for the support and called on other institutions to support activities in the region.
