GFA Panics Over No Provision For Black Stars In 2014 National Budget

Officials of the Ghana Football Association were taken aback when no mention was made as regards budget for the Black Stars for world cup 2014 when the Minister of Finance Hon. Seth Terkper read the 2014 national budget on the floor of parliament last month. In a one-on-one interview with head of GFA Media, Ibrahim Sanni Darra, the Sports Minister was specifically asked why nothing was said about the Black Stars Budget for world cup 2014 when the Finance Minister Hon. Seth Terkper read the 2014 national budget. In his response Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah laughed profusely Hahahahaha and said. I wish you could pose this question to the finance minister. We presented our budget estimate to the ministry of Finance but when the response came it was far less even than the previous year. So we are engaged in discussions with the stakeholders. We need to gather with the GFA and the stakeholders and put together a budget for the teams preparations and participation in the tournament. And then there is also the budget for the supporters and side events; we need to look at the them in a holistic manner and then we see what government can do in terms of contribution and what the private sector also can do. Hon Elvis Afriyie Ankrah said.
