President Mahama Salutes Farmers� �Ayekoo�

His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama has showed appreciation to gallant Ghanaian farmers for their immense contribution to food production in Ghana. The President who is in France to attend France-Africa Summit posted on his Facebook wall to congratulate all Ghanaian farmers whose contribution has helped build the nation. �As we celebrate Farmers' Day today, I wish to sincerely salute all our farmers for their contribution to food security in Ghana. Ayekoo� he said. Meanwhile, the 29th edition of the Farmers' Day celebrations, which took place at Sogakope in the Volta Region, saw a 58-year-old Alhaji Awudu Karim from the Kasena Nankana District of the Upper East region been adjudged the 2013 National Best Farmer. Alhaji Awudu Karim, who was not available at the ceremony to pick his award, will receive a three-bedroom house to be sited at his preferred location, a pick-up vehicle and a tractor. Mr. Edward Maxwell Aninkorah and Abdulai Seidu were also adjudged second and third National Best Farmers respectively. This year�s farmer�s day celebration was under the theme: �Reducing post-harvest loses for sustainable food security and nutrition� saw other chivalrous farmers throughout the country recognized for sustaining the agric sector in the country.
