Mandela Was An Outstanding Saint - Ex-Prez Kufuor

Former President John Agyekum Kufour has hailed the late South Africa's first black President and anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela for his heroic endeavors to liberate his country and the African continent. Mr Kufour, speaking on TV3, described Nelson Mandela as an "outstanding Saint" whose 'humanity has earned him great admiration and respect across the world'. Former President Nelson Mandela, to me is a saint. His call to eternity is a great loss not only to South Africa or to Africa, but to the whole wide world. All humanity must be in mourning, Mr Kufuor, said in a tribute to the late President on Friday. The world is mourning the late South African leader whose sad demise occurred at his home on Thursday, after receiving intense home-based medical care for a lung infection after three months in hospital. Mr. Mandela, who died at age 95, led South Africa's transition from white-minority rule in the 1990s after languish in prison for 27 years. In a statement on South African national TV, current President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma said Mr Mandela had "departed" and was at peace. "Our nation has lost its greatest son," Mr. Zuma added. The world's and Nobel Peace Prize laureate was one of the world's most noble Statesmen after fighting to reconcile Africa despite being his imprisonment. Former President Kufour who also sent his tribute to the Late Mandela's family, called for Africa to unite in honor of his (Nelson Mandela) memory. He said: I am deeply saddened at the passing away of President Mandela, Former President of the Republic of South Africa. His idea of a rainbow society, after his long and cruel incarceration in prison for his stance against apartheid, has seen all races co-exist peacefully in South Africa and has inured to the benefit of that country...Surely, there can only be one Mandela and the world will find it hard to find another like him. Now that he is gone, all of us, leaders and citizens, can only take lessons from his long and illustrious life and hope to replicate it in one form or the other for the good of mankind," he said.
