Government Goes Wild On Corrupt Officials

Government has warned that it will not spare anyone or agencies found guilty of the missing GHC2 billion Ghana cedis uncovered at the various state agencies. According to the Auditor Generals report for 2012, huge irregularities amounting to GHC2 billion Ghana cedis have been uncovered from the accounting books of public boards, corporations and other statutory institutions. These include cash irregularities, payroll irregularities, procurement and tax irregularities and contract irregularities. This damning report came in the wake of reported cases of corruption that has engulfed the nation. Minister for Information and Media Relations, Hon. Mahama Ayariga told Citi News that government will not relent in its efforts to solve the menace. In the cases where it is suspected that some malfeasance or crime has been committed those people involved will be dealt with in accordance with the law. According to him, President Mahama in his determination to fight corruption has directed the Attorney Generals Department to prosecute all the corruption cases that have been uncovered at the Ministries, Departments and Agencies. This is the directive the President has given to the Attorney General and so I believe that you will see the Attorney General in court as soon as practicable with those cases prosecuting people mentioned in the Auditor Generals report either before even Parliament reviews them or after the review.
