Cadre Front Urges President Mahama To Punish Corrupt Officials

Mr Efanam Nyaku, General Secretary of the United Cadres Front, a group belonging to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged President John Dramani Mahama to punish corrupt officials in his administration. Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency over the weekend, Mr Nyaku said President Mahama should not spare any member of his government found culpable in the Subah-Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) deal and the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) scandal. He reiterated that the NDC was formed on the basis of probity and accountability, and any member of the party that goes against the philosophy, should not be protected but exposed and punished. President John Dramani Mahama has so far demonstrated his zeal to fight corruption, and I will urge him to punish any member of his administration found culpable in any corrupt act, including the Subah GRA deal and the GYEEDA scandal, he said. Mr Nyaku disclosed that the punishment to be meted out to the officials implicated in the various corrupt deals would serve as a deterrent to others and also confirmed that the NDC is against corruption. He also urged President Mahama to investigate corrupt deals under the erstwhile New Patriotic Party administration including the alleged Ghana at 50 scandals and punish those found guilty. He pointed out that politics was not a money-making venture, but a service to the people. Politicians, he said, should always strive to help in the country,;s development efforts.
